Audiometry booths

Find out how our cabins meet the needs of healthcare professionals.

Audiometry booths are used to carry out examinations on patients, in order to assess their hearing. This is done in the best possible conditions, since the booths are optimally insulated. These tests are crucial in assessing or detecting hearing loss in the patient. People who have been exposed to loud noises may find their hearing impaired. Tones ranging from 125 to 8,000 Hertz are used.

Audiometry booths are mainly intended for ENT specialists and other healthcare professionals.

How an audiometry booth works

As explained in the introduction, audiometry booths are spaces designed for analyzing a patient’s hearing. The patient is placed in optimal conditions for an effective and conclusive examination. Inside the consultation rooms, although soundproofed to a relatively high standard, external noise can nevertheless disrupt the consultation.

These external noise disturbances can interfere with the analysis of the patient’s hearing ability and disrupt his or her concentration. These external problems are a regular occurrence in ENT surgeries and public health establishments. Fortunately, there are a number of companies specializing in insulation problems to remedy the situation. One such company is Groupe BOËT, an expert in this field. We’ll come back to this a little later, in the second part of this article.

The patient is then placed in an audiometry booth or in a audiological testing roomThe aim is to isolate the patient as far as possible from the noise pollution close to the consultation room. This is its main objective. As for how it works: insulating joints are installed between each partition panel. These are also installed around the glass and the door. As a result, the audiometry booth is completely noise-free.

A ventilation system is installed in this cabin, to ensure that patients are comfortable during their consultation. Light points are also installed. In this cabin, there is a headset connected to the audiometer, dedicated to listening by the patient. This is equipped with a connection located in the partition, under the glass. A panel has been set up to group together the various connection sockets.

The ENT professional is seated on the other side of the glass. The doctor is equipped with a shelf where he can place his audiometry diagnosis device. This will depend on the cabin model, but generally speaking, this is where all the connections essential to the patient’s hearing analysis are located. The ENT professional is seated, as the height of the table implies this position. To ensure optimal working conditions, he or she is equipped with a stool or a high, adjustable seat.

In general, audiometry booths are delivered ready-assembled and ready to use. However, depending on where you place your order, you may end up with an assembly kit and instructions. If you work in an older, smaller establishment, it’s best to order a mounting kit. In this way, you can be sure that the cabin will pass through the access door without any difficulty.

A solution to acoustic problems

The audiometry booth is an efficient device for carrying out a test under optimum working conditions. The test involves broadcasting sounds or words, which the patient must listen to and repeat. To achieve this, the consultation must be held in a quiet environment, free from external disturbances caused by noise pollution.

The audio booth is the perfect answer to these acoustic problems. It offers the most effective isolation, to enable the patient to concentrate properly. Above, we briefly mentioned the BOËT Group. We’d now like to take a closer look at what they do in this field.

Our company has specialized in acoustic treatment for some sixty years. If you’re looking for an audiometry booth, Groupe BOËT will meet your needs and expectations. We work in hospitals, clinics, laboratories, medical centers and schools. You’ll be spoilt for choice, with a wide range to choose from. And it doesn’t matter whether it’s a standard or custom model.
