Project background: energy, green hydrogen and cogeneration
The project concerns a Spanish customer in the energy sector, committed to the ecological transition. As part of the construction of an innovative cogeneration plant, two Bergen B36:45V20 12 MW engines were deployed. These engines are combined with carbon capture technologies and the production of methanol from green hydrogen.
Acoustic objective :
Reduce exhaust noise levels from 126 dB(A) to 76 dB(A), while respecting :
-
a pressure drop of less than 10 mbar;
-
a maximum footprint of 7 metres;
-
a horizontal configuration.
Acoustic challenges
This project brought together several critical constraints:
-
Extreme acoustic attenuation, meeting the requirements of a sensitive ICPE site;
-
Compactness, due to the spatial configuration of the site;
-
Aeraulic performance, with controlled pressure drop;
-
Mechanical robustness in the face of heavy stress (pulsation, vibration, mechanical fatigue).
These challenges called for a customized approach based on industrial acoustic studies, precise acoustic dimensioning and advanced acoustic simulations.
Customized technical solutions from the BOËT Group
The BOËT Group has designed and manufactured two type SM50 DN1200 SPE engine exhaust silencers, with a diameter of 2,250 mm and a length of 7,000 mm. The result of 9 months’ work (3 months engineering + 6 months manufacturing), these mufflers offer :
-
Sound attenuation up to 50 dB(A);
-
Pressure drop <10 mbar for optimum energy efficiency;
-
Space-saving and horizontal mounting ;
-
Structure resistant to mechanical and seismic stress.
These high-performance industrial silencers are a perfect illustration of the Group’s ability to respond to complex environments, such as the nuclear industry, the food industry and wastewater treatment plants.
