Silencers for air extractors: bringing an industrial site into acoustic compliance

In industrial environments, noise reduction is essential to protect local residents and comply with current regulations.
Ventilation and air extraction systems are among the most significant sources of noise impact, particularly when they operate continuously and close to property boundaries.

Groupe Boët, a specialist in industrial acoustic solutions, helped an industrial site bring its facilities into line with current regulations by installing high-performance acoustic equipment.

The importance of noise control in industry

Industrial noise impacts regulatory compliance, operator health and neighborhood perception. High-performance acoustic treatment is therefore an essential lever for the sustainability and competitiveness of production sites.

Context: non-compliant acoustic measurements

During regulatory inspections, the site was found to have a noise emission level of +17 dB(A) at the property boundary. Appropriate acoustic treatment was required to reduce the noise of the air extractor fans and secure the site’s activity with regard to environmental obligations.

Technical constraints

The work had to be carried out on an existing site without interrupting production, in a reduced footprint, while maintaining the aeraulic performance of the extractors. These constraints called for a bespoke design using acoustic enclosures and industrial silencers.

Solution implemented by Groupe BOËT

  • Design and install acoustic enclosures around sensitive equipment;
  • Install silencers on fan discharge;
  • Ensuring robust mounting and optimized integration despite limited space.

The equipment has been sized to achieve the targeted attenuation while guaranteeing minimum head losses and continuity of operation.

Results: compliance and proven effectiveness

After installation, an acceptance measurement confirmed that the site was in compliance. Levels at the property limit were reduced, ensuring :

    • Compliance with regulatory thresholds ;
    • Business continuity;
    • Improved sound comfort for local residents.

This project illustrates Groupe Boët ‘s ability to deal effectively with noise problems at ICPE industrial sites, through tailor-made acoustic solutions.

Conclusion and call to action

By combining acoustic enclosures and adapted industrial silencers, Groupe Boët was able to restore compliance and reduce environmental noise. Need a dedicated study?
